1. Discuss what you thought about creating the Value Scale and Color Wheel. 2. Which media did you enjoy working with the best and why? 3. What was the most important discovery in the creation of these studies? 4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos for this project? What is your opinion of the videos? The value scale and the color wheel are very useful tools to help people understand the basic, but most important, foundations of art. The value scale is simpler in concept, but a monumental skill in creating visual imagery that has a 3D effect. The color wheel is more complex, but in my opinion the most fun of the two because you get to work with colors. I used acrylic paints as my choice of medium as I am most comfortable with them since they are very forgiving (on the artwork and the wallet). I think the most important discovery from the exercise is understanding that color can have value. I had an old professor who ...

Module 3

1.) Describe Color and its effects on emotions. Use the appropriate vocabulary of color in your posting. Color catches the eye by the shades from light to dark it allows us to feel emotion. Dark colors and light colors have very different effects on our emotions. Black usually is a negative feeling, while a light pink or yellow are happier and positive. 2.) What is a theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates you? Why? It’s very amazing that color can affect our mood. Color is everywhere no matter where you go, doctors offices, schools, homes, on the street, especially in restaurants. Colors are used to manipulate our minds to make us feel happier or more hungry. 3.) In the Color videos, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and its effects on emotions? The impact color has on our everyday lives.

module 2

1.  For each video and article list/discuss the key concepts you learned. In the first video, I learned the actual definition for aesthetics, which is, the philosophical study of beauty and art. We never really think of art and beauty as two different things because people often think if something isn't beautiful then it isn't art. It made me think about the way I look at art differently and I often get down on myself when I feel like my art doesn't look beautiful because I feel like it's not "good enough." The second video on Neurobiology and Neurology of Aesthetics made me rethink beauty because there are things we consider beautiful and more "visually appealing" than others like Greek masculine sculptures. We enjoy looking at these things that we find appealing more. The CNN video discussed the idea of symmetry and the reason why  symmetrical appearing things appeal to use more is because most things have symmetry.  2.  Which philosopher'...

Module 1

1.) I have had the gmail account I submitted for awhile and used blogger for another class last semester so it wasn't new to me at all. However, I do remember it being fairly simple and easy to do. 2.) I would except to learn more about art and how to talk about it. 3.) I was nervous about taking an online course because it's new to me and I get confused easily when trying to navigate certain things without an instructor. But so far it's easier than I thought and doesn't seem so bad. 4.) I definitely related to the guy talking about having a job and learning to prioritize, the guy taking about financial issues and making a schedule to fit his work schedule, and hearing John Legend talk about failing in order to get where he was. I pay my own tuition and am no longer able to receive federal aid because I have exceeded the amount of credit hours they support. So prioritizing my time is crucial for me with work. Hearing someone so famous and talented talk about failing ...
