Questions :
Have you heard of Banksy before reading these materials for class? If so, what do you think of his work. If not, would you like to know more about him?
Yes, I think Banksy's work is extremely impactful and makes people think. His anonymous identity is powerful because people are forced to focus on the message.
What do you think of the "Balloon Girl / Love is in the Bin" "incident" at Sotheby's?
I think it was brilliant because Banksy work was never meant to be sold. It's a great example of what Banksy stands for, and we know this about him solely because of his street art and messages, not because we know who he is.
What are your thoughts on the references/memes based on this work?
I think it's perfectly fine because it's spreading the message on a massive scale across the globe.
How would/could you use Banksy's artworks in your art classroom?
I would use Banky's art to show my students the way street art can impact the world greatly and put social issues in people's faces without permission.
